Matt Bordas

A little about Matt

Matt is a Senior Physiotherapist who completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2011. His interest in sports physio and musculoskeletal physiotherapy led him to move into private practice in 2014 where he found his passion. Prior to this, Matt spent the first few years of his career working in the community setting. He found that guiding and empowering patients through rehabilitation to achieve goals in function, mobility and independence was an extremely rewarding experience.

Matt has now had the privilege of helping countless patients rehabilitate acute and chronic injuries, working with them to set and then achieve goals in their life, work, sport and function. For Matt, the most rewarding part of being a physiotherapist is being able to not only reduce and remove someone’s pain, but also empower them to remove their fears and thrive in whatever is important to them.

Matt believes every patient is unique. Not just in what injury or pathology may be causing pain and dysfunction, but in who they are, what they want to achieve and how the biomechanical masterpiece that is their body operates. Therefore there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” treatment. Every patient needs to be involved in setting goals and prioritising outcomes that will direct treatment. Hands on treatment, dry needling, education and active rehabilitation are all tailored to the needs and goals of each patient.

Matt has done extensive further learning over his years of practice including:
  • Dry Needling
  • Vertigo and Vestibular Rehabilitation
  • Functional Rehabilitation for Patients with Chronic Pain
  • Mulligan Mobilisation (Upper and Lower Quadrants, SIJ and Pelvis)
  • Running Assessments and Management of Running Related Injuries
  • Gym Based Rehabilitation
Matt has also taken time away from private practice periodically to provide on-base physiotherapy to a range of Army, Navy and Air-Force bases across Australia on behalf of the Australian Defence Force. This has been a very unique and rewarding experience and a fantastic way to see a whole lot more of this wonderful country.
